What is an epoxy resin floor suitable for?

Garages, workshops, basements, hobby rooms, showrooms, practices and shops: anywhere a floor has to be liquid-tight and stand up to tyres, tools and cleaning agents. Three finishes are available: colour flakes (chips of 3 or 5 mm), a marble look and metallic. Plus plain colours to RAL; the standard tones are greys such as RAL 7035 and RAL 7040.

Not for outdoor areas: epoxy resin yellows under UV light. Outdoors we recommend a stone carpet.

Not for halls with forklift, heavy-load or metal-wheel traffic: for those we advise an industrial coating.

Build-up, timings and substrate

Build-up: a primer, then a roller coating (0.6 to 0.8 mm) or a self-levelling coating (2 to 3 mm), optionally with colour flakes and a slip-resistant quartz sand broadcast. We choose the system on site, surface by surface.

Timings at +20 °C: walkable after 24 hours, driveable by car after 3 to 4 days, fully loadable after 7 days. At +10 °C: walkable only after about 72 hours, fully loadable after about 10 days.

Substrate: concrete or cement screed with at least 25 N/mm² compressive strength, more than 1.5 N/mm² pull-off strength and less than 4 % residual moisture. We do not coat where moisture rises from below or the floor is colder than +10 °C.
